If you’ve got a weekend or long weekend RV trip in mind, there are plenty of good options in a relatively close radius from Ottawa in your RV or trailer.
Within a couple hours’ drive you’ve got lots to choose from along the St. Lawrence River.
From Montreal to the east, along both Canadian and American sides of the St. Lawrence, down to the Thousand Islands and Kingston to the west, there’s much to enjoy.
Now if you’re traveling in an RV or trailer to these parts in April or May, you’ll want to be prepared for any kind of weather. Snow isn’t unheard of in Ottawa & Eastern Ontario in May, and is more or less expected to fall at some point in April.
That’s why you’ll want to not only ensure that your trailer or RV is in tip-top shape, but that you’ve brought ample layers of clothing. Plan on cool nights, especially, great for sleeping in the RV but more comfortable if you’ve got warmer wardrobe.

Other Ontario favourites include Peterborough & the Kawarthas; Belleville and Prince Edward County; the Niagara region (including world-famous Niagara Falls as well as the nearby wine country; and options further afield in this great, big province of Ontario that we’re proud to call home.
And for those with up-to-date passports and who meet all the requirements, you’ve got plenty more RV destinations in the United States. Lake Placid, Lake George and the beautiful Adirondacks are just across the border in New York State. The New England states of Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine are all well within RV driving distance and offer great getaways.
Like we said, the possibilities for an RV trip from Ottawa are nearly endless (as far as the road will take you!).
