Frequently Asked Questions

Should I leave my RV fridge on all the time?
Some people may think that you need to leave an RV fridge on at all times to extend its lifespan, but this is not the case. In fact, that is a waste of fuel or energy when the RV is not in use. A good rule of thumb to follow is to turn on the fridge 24 hours before leaving on a trip. That will give the fridge enough time to cool down for food storage.
Can I replace my RV fridge with a standard refrigerator?
It is possible to swap an RV fridge for a household unit, however there are some things that you need to consider first. A standard refrigerator needs an 120 volt AC outlet for power. Most RVs do not have an outlet in the space where the current fridge sits. An outlet will need to be installed, and done so in a way that won’t overload a circuit in the RV.
Will an RV fridge work if the RV is not level?
Running an RV fridge while parked on an unlevel surface is not recommended. Studies have found that the cooling system in gas powered RV fridges can spike well above normal temperatures after only 2 or 3 minutes. This increased temperature makes the fridge less efficient and can lead to damage that will require repairs.
Why is the check light in my RV fridge on?
The check light for an RV fridge only comes on when there is an issue with the fridge that needs to be fixed. It could be caused by a bad control board, voltage problems, or burner issues in gas powered fridges among other things. If the check light in your RV fridge is on, contact us right away for service. We can easily find and fix any RV fridge problem.
Why won’t my RV fridge get cold?
The first thing to check is whether or not the fridge will even turn on. If it does turn on, then there could be an issue with the thermostat, or the burner flame in a gas powered fridge may not be burning properly to cool the fridge. If your RV fridge won’t get cold, then contact us for service!
