Autumn, or Fall, is a favourite season for many Canadians. Why? Well, for starters, Fall does not have the wet of Spring, the heat of Summer or the bitter cold and oppressive snow of an Ottawa Winter. Perhaps best of all, there are practically no mosquitoes!

One of the best features of Fall when you are a “camper” out in nature is the collage of colours as the leaves take their inevitable turn from lush green of summer to brilliant red, yellow and orange.

RVing in Fall from Ottawa Is a True Joy

In Ontario we are blessed with a limitless number of fall colour opportunities, for leaving Ottawa in any direction provides foliage galore. It’s best not to limit yourself to just Ontario when venturing out from Ottawa. Quebec and the northern states of New England have just as interesting opportunities to see the Autumn colors, especially when part of vistas such as the slopes of Tremblant and Lake Placid or along the shores of countless rivers and lakes including the mighty St. Lawrence.

RV on road in autumnJust crossing one of the international bridges can provide a special viewing opportunity. One of our favorites is the bridge at Ivy Lea where you are above many of the 1000 Islands, large and small, each showing off their own version of the colorful season.

Of all the ways to enjoy the Autumn spectrum of leafy colours, a particularly enjoyable one is to walk through a forest trail early in the morning with two special elements – a heavy frost on the ground and a bright sunrise. And no more than a light breeze.

Imagine getting up at your camp site, making a hot cup of coffee, putting on a warm-enough sweater and just heading out to the nearest trail. It does not need to be a long trail, nor do you need to walk very far to see a canopy of frost glistening on the leaves of different colours.

One of the thoughts that always seems to pop up in these special moments is that what you are seeing, hearing, smelling and even feeling is the same as people for centuries have felt when through this spot or millions of spots just like. There are very few times in our contemporary, modern lives that we can have those moments when we can feel so connected to what has happened in the past and even what will happen tomorrow and the days after.

These moments are truly what is meant when we say “get back to nature.”

Why an RV or Trailer is the Best Way to Go

When people who have not experienced camping or RVing ask what it is that has led us to be so passionate about striking out in our RVs or travel trailers, it really does come down to the simple notion of “getting out in nature.”

If you like to get away out into nature but don’t want the expense, upkeep or taxes of owning a cottage, an RV or trailer is a great way to go!

As one of our readers likes to point out, “Another place that needs housekeeping!”

An RV or travel trailer is a lot less expensive to maintain, a lot easier to “house clean” and allows you to head out in any direction for another adventure.

Those adventures can include venturing out as late as Thanksgiving weekend before starting to think about storing your RV or travel trailer for the winter.

While we are considering the charm of rving in Autumn, it is also time to think about when the camping season is over and our recreational vehicles and travel trailers are stored for the winter.

Why Invest in Proper RV Service in Ottawa?

RV service in OttawaNothing will wreak havoc on your wallet or your start to the camping season next year quicker than not winterizing properly. Just this year we saw a split water tank – and by split, we mean almost completely around the circumference of the tank – because it was not winterized properly. That is a repair that can cost more than $1000! Not to mention (but we must) that you probably are not camping until it is replaced.

If you want to make sure your rig is winterized properly book a RV service appointment now for before the night time temperatures drop consistently below freezing.

It does not take a below zero temperature long to split a water line or valve. We saw this happen three years ago – a split valve. Sadly, the only way to discover a leak is often water flooding across the floor when you use the plumbing for the first time after the “freezing water” season.

Your rig has no bigger threat than water .

RV in for RV serviceThat’s why you must do the necessary RV service to make sure your plumbing system is functioning perfectly when you set up for that first camping trip in the spring.

You own an RV or travel trailer to have certain amenities just like you have at home. Unlike your home, your rig is not heated through the winter season.

That’s why we highly recommend having professional RV service for your rig for the one season when our camping experiences are reduced to looking at pictures, and our only campfires are limited to the fireplace while we wonder about the wind chill factor.

Contact us today to schedule your next RV service in Ottawa. We’re also happy to talk about what kind of RV or trailer camping trips you’re taking, and answer any RV questions you may have.
