Just Pack The Essentials
The thing to remember when packing your trailer for your summer adventure, is that less is more. Adding weight to your ride will not just slow you down when it comes to finding what you are looking for, but it will also cost you money! So, keep it simple! Bear in mind that you are not going to be hundreds of kilometres from civilization. You’re farther ahead keeping a pad of paper in a communal area and jotting down individual items as you need them. Then, next time you’re in a grocery store or passing a shopping centre you can pick them up!
Start in the Kitchen
Traveling with a pared down kitchen is going to dramatically improve your vacations flow. So if you’re going to go overboard anywhere in the packing department – let it be the kitchen. Start by pretending you’re going camping: Aluminium foil, BBQ gadgets, (don’t forget the BBQ lighter!), a pot, a pan, salad bowl, plates, and cutlery. Make sure you also have everything you need to tidy up after dinner: tea towels, paper towel, dish detergent, disinfectant wipes. Then, raid the utensil drawer and pack the essentials: covered knives, coffee opener, corkscrew, tongs, serving spoons, etc. Then, start conservatively adding the luxuries – coffee press, toaster, food processor, portable grill for dining al fresco. It’s also a good idea to make sure that you have a First Aid Kit on board.
Pack for Fun!
Don’t forget to pack for fun though! It’s always a good idea to have a deck of cards, and a few of your family’s favourite board games on hand just in case you get hit with a rainy day at the campground. Trailers from Travel-Mor also come equipped with bike racks, so don’t forget to pack the helmets! Another fun road trip activity that gets the whole family involved is a competitive scavenger hunt. Before you go, draw up a scavenger hunt that your children can work on over the course of the trip. Drumming up a bit of competition vying for an awesome reward will make those miles fly by! Depending on the age of your travelling companions, disposable cameras could add to the fun!
